Chapel at Madonna del Piano, below Aquara, where the remains of a Roman-era residential complex have also come to light.

Heading down the valley from the village of Aquara, you reach the locality named after this chapel, dedicated to the Madonna del Piano. It is a small place of devotion set in the countryside, a reference point for the community and for those travelling the roads round about. We are intrigued that the remains of a Roman residential complex have been found in this very area, a sign that the plain was already inhabited in antiquity. We suggest combining the stop with a walk in the surroundings, to appreciate the farmland around the village and the valley below.
