18th-century residence of the Carafa family, known as Vigna della Corte, with a square plan and four corner turrets, now abandoned.
Palazzo Carafa, also called Palazzo Vigna della Corte, was built at the beginning of the 18th century by the Carafa, princes of Castel San Lorenzo, on top of the town's old medieval castle, of which no trace remains. It began as the farmhouse of an estate and was later transformed into a true noble residence.The plan is almost square, with four round turrets at the corners. The basement held the olive press, whose stone millstones remain; the ground floor housed the reception rooms and a picture gallery, the first floor the private rooms. Today it is intact but abandoned and not accessible: we recommend admiring it from the long access avenue.
