Chapel of Santa Maria delle Grazie in San Marcellino

  • Visit: about 20 min

15th-century chapel on Via Roma in San Marcellino, with an old fresco of the Madonna delle Grazie above the altar.

Along Via Roma, the oldest street in San Marcellino, stands the Chapel of Santa Maria delle Grazie. Local sources date it to the 15th century: it has a Latin-cross plan, a pitched roof, a small bell tower and a sacristy behind the apse.Above the altar we are struck by the old fresco of the Madonna delle Grazie with the Child on her knees, beside an unidentified martyr saint, the work of an anonymous artist. We suggest also noticing the niche with the statue of St Anthony of Padua, to the left of the altar.
