Small Romanesque sanctuary in the countryside of Villa di Briano, a destination for pilgrimages and folk festivals after Easter.

Set in the countryside of Villa di Briano, the sanctuary of the Madonna di Briano is a small building of Romanesque forms, sober inside and out, which surprises first-time visitors with its simplicity. It is a reference point for people from the whole area.Devotion is linked to the plague of 1656: after a procession to the sanctuary the town suffered very few victims, and since then the faithful have renewed their thanksgiving. We like coming here on the Sunday after Easter, when pilgrims arrive on decorated carts amid folk songs and dances, and on Easter Monday, with the allegorical floats from nearby towns.
