Cave among the rocks of Monte Taburno, reachable on foot, with stalactites, inscriptions and medieval rock frescoes.

About three kilometres from Bucciano, in a cleft in the rocks of Monte Taburno, opens the cave of San Simeone. You reach it along a path, and the walk alone is worth the excursion: the cavity is more than 13 metres long and almost 15 metres high.Inside you'll find stalactites, inscriptions and well-preserved medieval rock frescoes, including a central panel with a bishop in the foreground. The cave is dedicated to St Simeon, protector of travellers against bad weather, and is still a pilgrimage destination today.
