15th-century sanctuary and convent in a panoramic spot at the foot of Monte Taburno, linked to a Marian apparition in 1401.

At the foot of Monte Taburno, in a panoramic spot, the sanctuary of the Madonna del Taburno dates from the 15th century and announces itself from afar with its imposing bell tower. It is a place that invites silence: inside, besides the high altar, a small wooden statue of the Virgin is venerated.Tradition tells that on 7 February 1401 the Madonna appeared to a deaf-mute shepherd girl, healing her, and that the girl found a sacred image in a nearby cave. Duke Carlo Caracciolo then had the sanctuary and convent built, entrusted to the Dominicans until 1743. We like coming here even just for the view.
