Melizzano Castle retains its original appearance, with Ghibelline merlons and a courtyard of Gothic arches: a fine sight over the village.

Among Melizzano's most representative monuments is the castle, which has largely kept its original appearance. We are struck by the long crown of Ghibelline merlons running along the whole structure, an unmistakable sign of its old defensive role in the Telesina valley.Inside opens a courtyard marked by Gothic pointed arches. The building is privately owned, so we recommend admiring it from the outside, perhaps during a stroll through the village centre, imagining the stories of the feudal lords who succeeded one another here until the early 19th century.
