A small village on the islet of Megaride, at the foot of Castel dell'Ovo, with its little harbour and a history going back to Roman times.

The Borgo Marinari stands on the islet of Megaride, right beside Castel dell'Ovo, and is linked to the mainland by an artificial isthmus joining it to Santa Lucia. Here, as early as the 1st century BC, there was an annex of the villa of Lucullus; in the 5th century Basilian monks settled here, later moved to make way for a fort, the first core of the castle.Life in the village has always revolved around its little harbour, the sea outlet of the nearby Santa Lucia district, where sailing boats and motorboats now bob on the water. A few houses, the castle and the sea all around: we recommend walking there at sunset and enjoying the view of the gulf and Vesuvius.
