Ponticelli's most important church, born as a 13th-century rural chapel and rich in works of art; bell tower with a majolica spire.

In piazza Vincenzo Aprea, in Ponticelli, stands the basilica sanctuary of Santa Maria della Neve, the oldest church in the Vesuvian area of Naples. Its origins date back to the 13th century, when it was a simple country chapel.Over the centuries it was enlarged and embellished, above all in the 18th century; in 1788 the Madonna della Neve was proclaimed patron of the district, and in 1988 the church became a minor basilica. Let's look at the bell tower: its majolica-covered spire is the clearest sign of the Baroque era.
