Ravello's medieval villa with its garden high above the sea, which inspired Wagner.

Villa Rufolo was built in the 13th century by a wealthy family of Ravello merchants. What remains of the complex includes the entrance tower, the main tower and the Moorish cloister. The garden, overlooking the Amalfi Coast, struck Richard Wagner, who found here the inspiration for Klingsor's magic garden in Parsifal. In summer it hosts the Ravello Festival concerts on the stage suspended over the sea.
