Church of San Martino in Ravello

On the eastern side of Monte Brusale stands this 16th-century church, reached by climbing the ramps that cross Ravello's cemetery. A pastoral visit of 1577 already described it with five altars and a plan different from today's: the change is probably due to its transformation into a cemetery chapel. We like getting there on foot, slowly, enjoying the silence of the place.At the entrance you are greeted by a painted lunette; inside you will find a single nave with a barrel vault, with ten works telling the life of Christ set in blind arches in the walls. We recommend looking up at the bell tower: on a square base rests an octagonal belfry with slender single-light windows, topped by a small drum with oculi and a spire.
