Late Republican Roman villa at Posto, Francolise, excavated by the British School at Rome in the 1960s.

In the territory of Francolise, in the ancient Falernian countryside, the Posto area has yielded the remains of a late Republican Roman villa. We like to think of this corner of countryside as one of the many farms that populated ancient Campania. The site was investigated between 1962 and 1965 by the British School at Rome, led by the archaeologist M. A. Cotton, together with the nearby San Rocco villa; the results, with pottery and other finds, were published in a dedicated volume. We recommend checking the accessibility of the area beforehand.
