18th-century villa at Ponte di Corno in Cerreto Sannita, which grew from a chapel and a farmhouse of 1741.

At Ponte di Corno, in the territory of Cerreto Sannita, Villa Langer was the initiative of Andrea Salvatore, a wealthy woollen-cloth merchant. In 1741 he bought the land to build a chapel dedicated to St Andrew the Apostle with an attached farmhouse, which by 1752 had already become a country villa. A Latin inscription on the chapel's architrave still recalls its foundation. On the founder's death the villa passed to his nephew, the poet Andrea Mazzarella, who died there in 1823. In 1845 it was sold and then passed to several families, including the Langers, from whom it takes its name. We like it as an example of the country homes of Cerreto's 18th-century merchant class, to be admired discreetly during a walk in the surrounding area.
