Old Ducal Dye Works of Cerreto Sannita
Luogo della tintoria ducale dei panni di lana della Cerreto antica, attiva già dal Quattrocento, detta anche la Tenta.
Church · Cerreto Sannita (BN)

17th-century exposed-stone church in the countryside of Cerreto Sannita, with layered frescoes and tombstones, recovered in 2003.
In the district of the same name in Cerreto Sannita stands the Church of the Madonna del Carmine, built between 1610 and 1614 by enlarging an older chapel. The area is called «liscitelle» after the smooth stones used in the building. Damaged by the 1688 earthquake and then abandoned in the 20th century, it was recovered in 2003.Outside we admire the exposed stone masonry and the portal with an inscription dated 1614. The interior has a single nave with a noticeable difference in level; on the end wall several layers of frescoes can be seen and ancient tombstones are set into the floor. During the restoration a Renaissance tile emerged, perhaps from the castle of old Cerreto. We recommend reaching it on a walk through the Cerreto countryside.
