Torre del Paradiso

Along the Amalfi Coast road, on the western promontory of Minori, stands this viceregal-era tower. It is one of the few examples in the area of towers with a single gun port, that is with just one opening for cannon, a model found mainly in Apulia. It is shaped like a truncated pyramid on a square plan.The entrance, raised until the road was built, is protected by a rudimentary gun port. The structure recalls a medieval bartizan, designed to strike attackers from above while staying under cover. Today it is enclosed among the neighbouring houses and is not accessible: we recommend spotting it from the outside as you drive along the coast.
