Cave · Minori (SA)

Natural cave near the Grotta dell'Avvocata, once a brigand's hideout, with a 19th-century arched fountain and basin.
Not far from the Grotta dell'Avvocata, on the steep slopes of the mountain, opens this natural cavity about nine metres deep, used by people since time immemorial. It takes its name from the brigand Matteo Salese, who found refuge here. We like the aura of adventure surrounding this place hidden among the rocks. It is also called the Grotto of the Monks' Baths, perhaps because of the structures built inside it in the 19th century. In the back wall there are three small arches: the central, larger one served as a fountain for the spring water, while in front lies a basin with a sinuous, symmetrical shape. We recommend reaching it with a guide who knows the area well.
