Minori Archaeological Area (Roman Villa)

In the centre of Minori, a few steps from the sea, stands a 1st-century AD Roman villa, the leisure residence of a wealthy owner. Discovered by chance in 1932 and excavated in several campaigns, it is laid out around a large porticoed garden with a central pool, the viridarium.We suggest lingering over the triclinium-nymphaeum, the bath rooms and the halls decorated with frescoes of musical instruments, theatre masks and mythological figures, as well as the mosaics with hunting scenes and sea creatures. We like to end the visit in the antiquarium, with pottery, coins and amphorae, some of which bear witness to life in the villa up to the Christian era.
