An Oenotrian princely tomb discovered in 1938, with a rectangular enclosure and a corridor leading to the burial chamber.

Among Roscigno's archaeological sites, the Tomb of Monte Pruno is the one that intrigues us most. It was discovered by chance in 1938, during farm work, and excavations began in November of that same year. It is the burial of a chief of the Oenotrians, the ancient people of southern Italy who were overcome by the Lucanians between 500 and 470 BC.The burial enclosure is rectangular, about five metres by three, and is entered through a short corridor leading to the chamber, once closed by a tuff slab. We recommend combining the visit with the museum-laboratory in the village, to see up close the materials that emerged from the Monte Pruno excavations.
