A museum founded in 1997 in the heart of the Alburni, with thousands of specimens of European birds, mammals, crustaceans and insects.

Founded in 1997 in Corleto Monforte, this museum looks mainly to the nearby Alburni mountains. It holds a rich permanent exhibition of European wildlife: about 1,200 species of birds, over 60 of mammals, Mediterranean crustaceans and more than twenty thousand insects. We like the variety of the collections, surprising in such a small village.Besides displaying specimens, the museum is also a centre for wildlife research and monitoring, and promotes educational and environmental awareness activities, with attention to local traditions too. We recommend visiting with children, perhaps before an excursion in the Alburni: it is a wonderful way to discover the animals you might meet.
