An elegant 18th-century palace on Corso Garibaldi, home since 1975 to Benevento's Provincial Library.

Along Corso Garibaldi, Benevento's old Via Magistrale, stands Palazzo Terragnoli, dated 1767 by the cartouche on its doorway. It was the residence of the Terragnoli marquises, a family that died out in the first half of the 20th century. The designer is unknown, but the building is attributed to the Roman Rococo architect Filippo Raguzzini.Since 1975 it has housed the Provincial Library named after Antonio Mellusi, renovated around 2000 with spaces for exhibitions, author talks and a media library. From the original residence we like the proportions of the façade with its white window frames and the decorated stone staircase: we suggest taking a look as you go in.
