Benevento's large neoclassical basilica dedicated to the city's patron saint, with a six-column pronaos and a wooden statue of the Madonna.

The Madonna delle Grazie is the patron saint of Benevento, and her basilica is one of the places most loved by the people of the city. It was the municipality that promoted its construction in 1837, during a cholera epidemic, choosing Vincenzo Coppola's design. The first stone was laid in 1839 by Gioacchino Pecci, the future Leo XIII; consecrated in 1901, it has been a minor basilica since 1957.We like its Greek-cross neoclassical architecture, introduced by a six-column pronaos crowned by statues of the patron saints. Inside, we suggest lingering over the wooden statue of the Madonna and Child on the high altar, the bronze reliefs of the Way of the Cross and the two pipe organs in the apse. The patron saint's feast is celebrated on 2 July.
