Medieval Aqueduct of Salerno
L'acquedotto longobardo con gli archi ogivali, chiamato «ponti del diavolo».
Palace · Salerno (SA)

1920 palace next to the Teatro Verdi, with façades richly decorated with rustication, Ionic columns, pediments and floral friezes.
Built in 1920 on one of the plots near the Teatro Verdi, right next to the old church of Sant'Anna al Porto, Palazzo Centola faces Piazza Umberto I with its main front. The building rises over four levels on an L-shaped plan and is a fine example of the elegant architecture of early 20th-century Salerno. We recommend reading the façade from the bottom up: on the ground floor rustication topped by a frieze, then a row of small balconies on decorated corbels, followed by Roman- and French-style balconies with pediments, pilasters and lunettes with floral motifs. Above all we like the arched stone portal, framed by Ionic columns.
