Monte Calvello, north-west of Pontelandolfo, rises over a thousand metres and dominates the land between the Tammaro valley and Lake Spino.
Monte Calvello is the height that towers over Pontelandolfo from the north-west, reaching almost 1,018 metres. Together with the lower Monte Sauco it forms the watershed between the Tammaro valley and that of the Lenta stream, offering a wide view over the hills of the Sannio and the villages that dot them.On its north-eastern slopes, on the border between Pontelandolfo and Morcone, lies Lake Spino, a body of water of about one square kilometre. We like to think of Calvello as a destination for those who enjoy walking at a gentle pace and observing the farmland and woods of the upper Sannio. We recommend suitable footwear and a good trail map before setting out.
