In Benevento's Palazzo Paolo V, a multimedia museum devoted to witchcraft, the janare and the folk rituals of the Sannio.

Benevento is the city of the janare (witches), and Janua is the museum that tells their myth. Housed in Palazzo Paolo V and created between 2017 and 2019, it is a permanent multimedia route on witchcraft in Benevento and Campania, with particular attention to the female figure and to the ceremonies and rites of passage of Samnite tradition.Among holy cards, ex-votos, fetishes, herbs and objects of magical or superstitious use, we especially love the screening room topped by an artificial walnut tree, inspired by the ancient witches' tree. We also recommend the area devoted to the remedies of folk medicine. The museum's symbol is a two-tailed siren, linked to the cult of the Mother Goddess and fertility rites.
