Museum of Polla's traditional women's costumes from the 19th and 20th centuries, in the former 16th-century church of Santa Maria la Scala.

In the heart of Polla's historic centre, the former 16th-century church of Santa Maria la Scala, closed to worship after the 1980 earthquake, has housed the Insteia Polla Civic Museum since 1996. The museum tells the town's story through its most distinctive feature: the traditional women's dress, worn by the women of Polla until the last decades of the 20th century. The exhibition follows the evolution of the costume between the 19th and 20th centuries, arranged according to life's occasions: gala and festive dresses, everyday clothes, dresses for processions, half-festive and mourning dresses. In 2009 the Campania Region recognised it as being of regional interest. Visits are by request: we recommend booking ahead.
