A medieval village in the upper Sele valley, documented since 1200 and passed between several feudal lords in the Angevin period.

The first written record of Colliano dates from 1200, in a letter from Pope Innocent III to the bishop of Conza. Even then the village was a settlement of some religious importance, with two churches belonging to monastic orders, dedicated to Saint Nicholas and Saint Thomas. We like discovering how a small village has such well-documented roots. In 1230 the feudal lord Guglielmo di Sangermano had a hospital built here, a sign of a sizeable community. In the Angevin period the fief changed hands several times, together with Senerchia, among knights and lords in the king's service. We recommend climbing through the alleys to the remains of the castle, which overlooks the valley.
