An 11th-century castle on a rocky spur, with walls, two towers and the chapel of the Madonna del Soccorso.

This castle stands on a rocky spur overlooking Colliano. It has a clearly Norman layout and was built in the 11th century over an earlier Lombard fort. From the bastion you can still see the walls with two towers on the north side and traces of the wall with the gates that once crossed the village. In the inner courtyard is the chapel of the Madonna del Soccorso, built in the 15th century, destroyed by the 1980 earthquake and then rebuilt, which preserves a beautiful 15th-century fresco. We recommend arriving in the late afternoon: the view over the valley from up here is truly splendid and we love stopping to take it in.
