An imposing 16th-17th-century Carthusian grange, once the granary of the Padula Charterhouse, now home to the Antiquarium and the library.

The Grancia of San Lorenzo was built between the 16th and 17th centuries as a granary for the Certosa di Padula, on which it depended and from which it takes its name. Restored in the 18th century, it lost its original function the following century. It is a monastic building of about 1,500 square metres, imposing yet plain, with bare façades and few openings.Past the entrance opens a wide quadrangular courtyard, which also leads to the chapel. Today the grancia houses the Antiquarium and the town library. We recommend visiting to understand how the network of Carthusian estates worked in the Vallo di Diano: we like this direct link with the great monastery of Padula.
