Sala Consilina's archaeological museum tells, through the grave goods of over a thousand tombs, the life of the Vallo di Diano from the 9th to the 4th century BC.

In its historic premises on Via Cappuccini, the Antiquarium, now the Archaeological Museum of Sala Consilina, holds the grave goods of the great necropolises excavated in the San Rocco and Sant'Antonio areas. These are materials from more than a thousand burials, rich in locally made and imported pottery, which let us follow the development of one of the most important centres of the Vallo di Diano. The recently renewed display runs from the Iron Age, with cremation tombs of the 9th century BC, to the Lucanian period of the 4th century BC. We suggest lingering over one of the oldest cinerary urns on display, the hut model found in a tomb and the Attic black-figure pottery: pieces that tell well of the contacts between the peoples of the Vallo and the Greek world.
