A Roman bath complex built around AD 95 beside the forum of Cumae, with a porticoed palaestra and barrel and cross vaults.

The Forum Baths rose north-west of the main square of Cumae around AD 95, in a period of intense building activity. The building was richly decorated, as the many fragments of wall facing found here show. We like imagining the comings and goings of citizens who passed from the forum to here for bathing and exercise. Two public entrances led into the complex: one to the south towards the porticoed corridor and the palaestra, the other to the east directly into the vestibule. Light came in through windows and skylights opened in the barrel or cross vaults. From the 5th century, once its bathing function was lost, part of the building was reused for other purposes.
