Museum in Pioppi, in Palazzo Vinciprova, devoted to Ancel Keys and the Mediterranean diet between pleasure, well-being and culture.

In Pioppi, on the upper floor of Palazzo Vinciprova, are the rooms of the Ecomuseum of the Mediterranean Diet, dedicated to the American physician and epidemiologist Ancel Keys. Keys lived for over forty years in Cilento studying the link between the local diet and cardiovascular disease, and showed the benefits of extra virgin olive oil, oily fish, fruit such as the white fig, and vegetables. The tour tells the story of the Mediterranean diet through images and texts, following three threads: the pleasure of food, physical well-being and culture, with a journey through Cilento's food traditions. We are moved to be able to see Keys's personal library, donated to the town of Pollica. We recommend combining it with the nearby sea museum.
