The Eleousa collection of San Mauro Cilento was ideally born in 1978, with the discovery of the handwritten parish registers of the 16th and 17th centuries. From there the community began to search for and rediscover the evidence of its own past.Between 1984 and 1991 research, exhibitions and publications pieced together the village's religious and social history. We like it because it is a grassroots museum, created to give back memory to a village of ancient Cilento.
