Courtyard palace developed from a 16th-century core, with a Norman-Swabian dovecote tower overlooking the surrounding valleys.

The Ducal Palace of Serre has very ancient origins: its present form dates from the 17th and 18th centuries, when the L-shaped 16th-century building was turned into a courtyard palace. Two wings at right angles and two boundary walls enclosed a vast courtyard, in the middle of which grew a large horse chestnut tree.We recommend looking for the square-based dovecote tower, from the Norman-Swabian period. The main tower once dominated the valley of the Molino stream and the turret that of the Pozzillo. We are intrigued by the main entrance on Piazza Mazzini, now walled up, with its stone portal, above which rose a small tower with a terrace called the Belvedere.
