Church of the Santissimo Salvatore in Torchiara, of medieval origin, on a panoramic height, with wooden statues in stucco niches.

In the historic centre of Torchiara, on a height from which the view sweeps over the Cilento hills, stands the Church of the Santissimo Salvatore, whose origins date back to the 12th century. The interior is divided into three naves and holds 17th- and 18th-century wooden statues and busts, set in elegant stucco-decorated niches. The apse once held a precious polyptych of 1577 attributed to Marco Pino da Siena, with the Madonna and Child, the Transfiguration and several saints, now kept in the Diocesan Museum of Vallo della Lucania. We suggest coming up here at sunset: the panorama alone is worth the visit.
