Former convent of the Doctrinarian Fathers, known for providing free schooling to young people, now owned by the town and under restoration.
The church of San Michele was for a long time the parish church of Laureana, until Santa Maria del Paradiso was built, and its decline began in 1519. The convent was then entrusted to the Doctrinarian Fathers, who carried out important social work there, teaching boys to read and write and the catechism free of charge. We like this educational vocation.With the 19th-century laws against convents the building fell into ruin, but after the war it was restored and housed a boarding school for children in need, active until the end of the 1970s. Today it belongs to the town and is being restored: we recommend admiring it from the outside, imagining the life that once filled it.
