Mother church of Prignano Cilento on Piazza del Plebiscito, with three naves, a sturdy stone bell tower and a painted vault.

Overlooking Piazza del Plebiscito, opposite Palazzo Cardone, the Church of San Nicola di Bari is the mother church of Prignano Cilento. Its origins predate the 13th century, although its present appearance comes from later remodelling. Beside it rises a sturdy three-tier bell tower in local stone with round arches.The gabled façade has two portals and, in the pediment, a painting of the saint. Inside, with three naves, we suggest looking up at the barrel vault with painted panels and a central fresco of a miracle of St Nicholas, and looking for the 17th-century canvas of the Mystic Marriage of St Catherine.
