Family chapel of 1348 in Laureana Cilento, with a Gothic holy water stoup, a Renaissance relief and a 14th-century wooden Madonna.

Beside the palace of the old Del Mercato family, the chapel of the Santissima Annunziata in Laureana Cilento bears the date 1348. The floor preserves the tombstones of the founders' heirs, the oldest dating from 1502.Inside, we suggest looking for the stone Gothic holy water stoup contemporary with the foundation, a Renaissance bas-relief of the Annunciation, a 14th-century wooden Madonna and a 17th-century painting of the Archangel Gabriel. We like how such a small space reveals centuries of history of this hill village overlooking the Cilento coast.
