18th-century church in Sant'Angelo a Cupolo with a 16th-century statue of St Michael and frescoes by Liborio Pizzella.

The Church of Santi Angelo e Leonardo is among the main monuments of Sant'Angelo a Cupolo, a hill municipality a few kilometres from Benevento. The building dates from 1754 and underwent some changes in the latest restoration. We like how it gathers, in a small space, works from different periods that tell of the village's devotion.Inside is a 16th-century statue of St Michael, together with two notable frescoes: the one to the left of the high altar is by Liborio Pizzella. We also recommend looking for the painting of the Madonna del Latte (Nursing Madonna), a subject much loved in devotional painting. An ideal stop before continuing to the municipality's panoramic hamlets.
