Late 14th-century mother church of Sant'Angelo a Fasanella, with a marble portal flanked by lions and an elegant five-tier bell tower.

In the Dentro la terra quarter, the middle part of the village at the foot of the Alburni, stands the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore, near the feudal castle. The first structures date from the early 14th century, after the destruction of Fasanella in 1246, while the present building is from the end of the same century. We suggest looking at the marble portal flanked by two lions, with symbolic panels by the sculptor Francesco da Sicignano, and the five-tier bell tower with an octagonal spire. The three-nave interior houses a large chapel of the Madonna of the Rosary. From here the procession for the feast of St Michael sets off towards the nearby cave.
