On Sassinoro's main square, a stone church with a semicircular churchyard and a precious Byzantine-style wooden Madonna.

Overlooking Piazza IV Novembre, Sassinoro's main square, the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie has uncertain origins. It was rebuilt after the 1688 earthquake, enlarged in 1741 and since 1849 has been the seat of the confraternity of the Santissima Vergine delle Grazie. We like its sober character, built entirely of local stone. In front of the entrance opens a semicircular churchyard, while the gabled façade is topped by a small bell gable. Inside, we recommend pausing at the Byzantine-style wooden statue of the Virgin, the church's most precious work. It is a natural stop for anyone strolling through the village centre.
