Sassinoro's archpriest's church in local stone, rebuilt after the earthquakes of 1688 and 1805, with a majolica onion-domed bell tower.

The Church of San Michele Arcangelo is Sassinoro's archpriest's church. It stands where an old chapel dedicated to the Redeemer once was and, in the 17th century, it was dedicated to the Archangel after the apparition in the grotto of Santa Lucia. The earthquakes of 1688 and 1805 hit it hard and both times the community rebuilt it.We like its façade in local stone, with its slightly projecting central section. But the feature we recommend not missing is the bell tower, which ends in an onion dome clad in yellow and green majolica, clearly visible from several points in the village. Combine the visit with the nearby sanctuary of Santa Lucia.
