The Chiesa Nuova of the historic centre, a Greek-cross church built between 1718 and 1731 with a refined brick and stone façade.

In the historic centre everyone calls it the Chiesa Nuova (New Church): it was built between 1718 and 1731 by the brothers Pietro and Antonio Gerbasio, with a Greek-cross plan and great architectural care. We really like the façade with rounded corners in exposed brick, divided by pilasters of local stone on two tiers, with the portal below and a large window above. The initials MBG are carved on the pilasters. The dome, covered in curved tiles, recalls Byzantine models. Inside, a single hall with a barrel vault, the harmony and restraint of the decoration stand out. In the raised presbytery we recommend looking at the high altar in polychrome marble and, behind it, the walnut Concistorium, probably the work of local craftsmen.
