An old Basilian monastery founded before 1131 and later a farm estate of the Carthusians of Padula, with a small church still in use.

Also known as the Basilian Grancia of San Pietro, this complex in Montesano sulla Marcellana was founded before 1131. The monastery remained with the Basilian monks until 1728, when it passed to the Carthusians of Padula, who turned it into one of their grance, that is, a farm estate linked to the charterhouse.Beside it stands the small church, well kept and still open for worship. We recommend pausing at the façade: above the entrance portal stands out an unusual icon of the saint, set in an oval that extends beyond the door frame. We like how this place tells centuries of the area's monastic history in a small space.
