Family chapel from 1689 in the old Casale quarter, rich in Baroque stucco, majolica and wooden sculptures.

In the heart of the Casale, the first inhabited core of Buonabitacolo, stands the family chapel of San Domenico, built in 1689 at the wish of Bishop Francesco Antonio Leopardi. His coat of arms appears both on the chapel portal and on that of the nearby baronial palace, with which the building connects. The interior, with a single rectangular nave, is a small showcase of Neapolitan Baroque: a stucco vault, a stone altar with a scagliola frontal, majolica floors and an 18th-century organ. We are struck by the woodwork, from the large Crucifix to the pulpit and a moving statue of Our Lady of Sorrows in Spanish Baroque taste. We recommend spending a few extra minutes here.
