Large Neo-Gothic church built between 1954 and 1959, overlooking the main square of Montesano sulla Marcellana.

Overlooking the main square of the town, the Church of Sant'Anna is immediately striking for its size and its Neo-Gothic style, unusual in this corner of the Vallo di Diano. It was built between 1954 and 1959 at the wish of the wealthy benefactor Filippo Gagliardi, who wanted to give the town a large, imposing sacred building. We suggest looking at it at leisure from outside, appreciating the soaring lines of the façade, and then going in to take in its atmosphere. We like how this church, as recent as it is scenic, has in a few decades become one of the town's most recognisable symbols.
