Palazzo De Stefano in Ogliastro Cilento

In the centre of Ogliastro Cilento stands Palazzo De Stefano, a noble residence built in 1525 at the wish of Galeazzo Spigadore. It has a quadrangular plan arranged around a central courtyard and retains the look of a true fortified palace.We are struck above all by the large battered round tower at the north-east corner, crowned with Ghibelline (swallow-tail) merlons. Originally there was also a second round tower to the south-east, demolished in the 18th century, and a square keep later incorporated into the building. The interior is not open to visitors: we recommend admiring it from the outside, walking around it to take in its size.
