Church · Castelvetere sul Calore (AV)

A church in Castelvetere sul Calore linked to the confraternity of Santa Maria delle Grazie and the feast of 28 April.
In the medieval village of Castelvetere sul Calore, which grew up around the old castle, the church of San Lorenzo was the seat of the Confraternity of Santa Maria delle Grazie. It is a small place of worship closely linked to the community's religious traditions and to its most distinctive feast. We suggest visiting for the feast of 28 April: a few days beforehand the church is decorated with precious drapes and flowers and with a small altar built of tortani, the traditional ring-shaped loaves, from which the women in charge hand out the blessed bread. We love this custom that brings together faith, community and food culture.
