Church of San Ciriaco in Foglianise

The Church of San Ciriaco Martire is Foglianise's old parish church and already appears in documents from the second half of the 16th century: an inventory of 1579 lists, among the parish's property, a vineyard in the San Rocco area, linking this church to the village's most heartfelt devotion.For centuries the parish of San Ciriaco covered a large territory, which until the mid-19th century also included the friary of the Santissima Annunziata, later passed to Vitulano. We like discovering it as a starting point for learning about the religious history of Foglianise, linked to the Festa del Grano (Wheat Festival). We recommend visiting the village in August, when the festival brings it to life.
