Chamber of Commerce Palace in Benevento

On Piazza IV Novembre, right in front of the Rocca dei Rettori, the Benevento Chamber of Commerce palace deserves a look for its architecture alone. Built between 1932 and 1935, its L-shaped plan follows the line of Corso Garibaldi. The artistic side was entrusted to the L'Aquila architect Mario Gioia, who chose a language inspired by the Romanesque.The white marble and brick façade is marked by two- and three-light windows, and beneath the top floor runs a ceramic cornice with the symbols of the trades, the work of Lorenzo Zoppoli. Inside, red Vitulano marble dominates. We suggest passing by in the evening, when the lighting installed in 2005 brings out the architectural details.
