Beniamino Tartaglia Ethnographic Museum

The Beniamino Tartaglia Ethnographic Museum in Aquilonia tells the story of the material culture of rural life in the inner Apennines. Opened at the end of 1996 on the initiative of Professor Tartaglia, after whom it is named, it was recognised as a museum of regional interest in 2008. It covers some 1,500 square metres over two floors: be ready for a long and surprising visit.Its roughly 130 themed rooms hold thousands of original objects. We love the reconstructions of craft workshops, the threshing floor, a schoolroom and the farmhouse, along with the sections on costumes, clothing, religious life, folk medicine and food production. We also recommend the archaeological and historical room, with local finds from the Samnite period to the early Middle Ages.
